What you get from it

Increase production and reduce your lead times by automating your processes. Four things a Cobot Welding System can change on the shop floor.

Protect skilled welders

Your skilled welders focus on the complex tasks that demand their unique skills, letting the cobot complete the repetitive and boring jobs.

Repetitive jobs automated

Increase productivity

A typical welding job takes only a few minutes to set up and program, so larger jobs can be accepted with confidence.

Minutes to set up

Cut costs

Consistent welds mean fewer reworks, less time cleaning weld spatter, and savings on raw material and labour.

Improved quality

Accurate to ± 0.05 mm per ISO 9283, which means unmatched repeatability and quality on every part that comes off the table.

Real results from our Cobot Welding System

We visited Dan at Mettech Precision to get his honest feedback on how the Cobot Welding System has revolutionised production in his business.

Customer case study
“It’s just repeatable. It just does the same thing every time. We’ve gone from manually welding it to doing it four times faster with a cobot so it’s exponentially helped our production.”

What is in the system

Every component comes from ESCCO, an authorised UK distributor for Universal Robots, on one order, with one point of contact. Configurations are customisable around the welder and the fixture table size your work needs. Watch the package walkthrough.

Cobot welding cell: robot arm, torch and clamped workpiece on a Siegmund welding table
A working cell: arm, torch, fixturing and table, supplied and commissioned together.
01

Universal Robots arm

Six axis collaborative arm, 7.5 kg to 30 kg payload and reach between 950 mm and 1750 mm. Force sensing, collision detection and virtual safety planes as standard.

02

Smooth Robotics software

Built for welders. Teach the weld by hand, then run it. A job takes only a few minutes to set up and program.

03

Fronius or Miller MIG

An automated MIG power source matched to your material and thickness, in the configuration your work needs.

04

Siegmund welding table

System 16, 22 or 28 fixturing so the part lands in the same place every cycle. This is what makes the repeatability real.

Optional

Enclosed Welding Cell

A fully enclosed welding cell where arc screening or floor space dictates it.

Later

Change the tool, change the job

Using the same SmoothTool Software, your Cobot Welding System can also be used for Plasma Cutting, by simply changing the welding torch for a plasma torch.

Which arm you need

Two numbers decide it: how heavy the torch and part handling is, and how far the arm has to reach across your table. Find your corner of the chart, then check the table.
